Before Luke Rockhold Was a UFC Middleweight Champ, He Faced Off with Patti Stanger

There is no millionaire who can make the Millionaire Matchmaker scare easily. And that even goes for Luke Rockhold, who just won the UFC middleweight champion title over the weekend. Luke, who went head-to-head with Patti Stanger earlier this year while he was looking for love, beat out Chris Weidman in the UFC 194 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on December 12.
And while Luke might dominate in the ring, knocking out competitors with ease, he wasn't as great in the romance department, as Patti learned when he opened up about his love life (or lack thereof). Even with nerves of steel, Luke couldn't help but reveal that he hasn't always made romance a first priority. "In the love world, I'm a bit fearful of opening up and committing," he said. "It's dangerous when it turns on you and it's not like a game you can always fight and win, physically. It's a mental game; it's an emotional game and you've got to put yourself out there. It's not something you can really control."
Before she sent him out on a date, Patti sat down with him in the ring, where she learned he hadn't been in a serious relationship in close to a decade — an answer that floored her. "That is such bulls**t," she declared when Luke said he was married to his career (before owning up to the fact that he also liked to have fun while on the road). Patti had a feeling that Luke wasn't being upfront with her about something. "I think Luke is a player, but I'm willing to give him a chance," she said.
