Apparently, a little turtle time goes a long way. This week, the American Humane Association named Top Chef All Star Fabio Viviani an Ambassador for his dedication to animals even while in the kitchen. "We are very honored to have Fabio Viviani serve as a National Ambassador," said American Humane Association President and Chief Executive Officer Robin R. Ganzert, Ph.D. "His talent and dedication to the welfare of animals create a sure-fire recipe for a better and more compassionate world."
The American Humane Association is working with farms across the country to ensure the proper treatment of animals, and has a particular interest in cage-free eggs. Fabio told the Sacramento Bee that it's all about extending the idea of eating healthy to include not just what you put into your body, but how it gets there. "It is important not only to eat right, but also to do right when it comes to the food we put on our tables," he said. "Whether you're buying milk, cheese, eggs, yogurt or meat, it is important to buy food from farms that treat their animals humanely."
