Did this Bravoleb bring home the gold?

One reason why we love the Olympics so much is because of all of the drama it brings, both in witnessing the triumphant victories and seeing the crushing defeats. In fact, one of our very own Bravolebs even has some firsthand experience with that.

How to Watch

Mohamed Hadid, the luxury real estate developer, ex-husband of Yolanda Hadid, and good friend to Lisa Vanderpump and Caroline Stanbury, has an even more impressive resume than we thought. He competed in the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France. Doesn't Mohamed look like a natural on the slopes?

At 43 years old, Mohamed was set to be one of the oldest athletes competing in those Olympics, according to a profile about him published in The New York Times in December 1991. He was also the only athlete to represent Jordan. "Maybe I can bring out a little attention for Jordan. There are a lot of young people in our part of the world who don't realize that you can go out and do these things," Mohamed told The New York Times. "For me, it was just something else I needed to do, maybe another goal to set for myself while there's not much going on in the construction business."

Mohamed trained to compete in the Olympic demonstration sport of speed skiing with the help of his fellow Olympian and six-time consecutive World Speed Skiing Champion Franz Weber, who represented Austria in the 1992 Albertville Olympics. Unfortunately, Mohamed didn't walk away with any medals, but he did have the "time of my life." Who's to say that's not a win?

Mohamed wasn't the only Hadid with Olympic ambitions. His youngest daughter Bella Hadid dreamed of having a professional riding career and competing in the equestrian event at the Olympics, Yolanda revealed in her Bravotv.com blog in January 2016. Unfortunately, Bella's battle with Lyme disease made her unable to continue riding.

Another supermodel daughter, Gigi Hadid, also showed her Olympic spirit by posing on the cover of the August 2016 issue of Vogue with Ashton Eaton, who won a gold medal for the decathlon at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and will be going for another gold at this year's event. [Since the time of this article's publication, Eaton won the gold medal once again for the decathlon at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.] As Gigi gushed about her Olympian dad to Ashton in the Vogue cover story, the decathlete was very impressed. “Forty-three to the Olympics!” Eaton said. “Wow, that’s really fit.”

We can't wait to hear more stories about Mohamed's time at the Olympics.
