The temps are getting warmer and if you're looking for to do the same in your personal life, Patti Stanger has some advice for those who are single and very much ready to mingle—and doing it on the internet.

For those online, the Millionaire Matchmaker says that it's all about adding a few more miles to the preferred area when it comes to looking for your mate.

"Type in 100 miles from your ZIP Code," she tells the Miami Herald. And she should know what she's talking about—she met her boyfriend, David Krause, on PlentyOfFish.com using just that method. "He's from Orange County and drove to see me every single week," she says. "Truthfully, I never would have met him had I not decided to date outside of my region."

In addition to having to literally step—or maybe even drive—out of your comfort zone, she notes that everyone is being too superficial when it comes to online dating.

"The thing I'm finding is that people aren't trying to get to know each other," she says. "They just discount one small fragment of a profile. We're not talking deal-breakers. We're talking, 'I want a girl who's five-foot-four, not five-foot-two.' It's stupid, ridiculous things."

Though she advises it's OK to focus on the surface when it comes to posting your own profile picture. "I don't want to see you bungee jumping," she says. "Go to a professional. Get your Glam Squad or whatever you use. Make sure it's quality and makes an impression."

OK, now if you're lucky enough to meet someone interesting, Patti has one more rule.

"It's OK to text her when you're in a meeting and saying, 'I'm thinking about you,'" she says. "But when it comes to asking her out, you have to call her! Texting is for teenagers."
