Porsha Williams Opens Up About What Kind of Dad Dennis McKinley Is to PJ
The RHOA mom shouted out her ex, as well as his mom, for being such important people in her daughter's life.
Porsha Williams may have been a day late to posting a Father's Day tribute to Dennis McKinley as her "phone was water damaged," but The Real Housewives of Atlanta mom definitely made the post count once she did.
Porsha shared a bunch of photos of Dennis and their daughter, Pilar Jhena, hanging out and doing all sorts of fun activities, like gardening and painting, and also opened up about what kind of dad Dennis is to their 2-year-old. "Your relationship with pooh bear is so beautiful! Pilar is a true daddy’s girl and I love it! #Familyforever," Porsha shared on Instagram.
Dennis also shared a photo of their daughter, adding, "UNCONDITIONAL [LOVE] is DIFFERENT!"
Porsha also recently showed love for Dennis' mom, Gina, to mark her birthday and revealed a bit about what she's like as a grandma. "We love you!! PJ is so blessed to have not one but two amazing Grandmothers who love and take such good care of her!" Porsha wrote on Instagram this week. That other "amazing" grandma is, of course, Porsha's mom, Diane.
Back in 2020, Dennis spoke to The Daily Dish about his life as a dad and what it's been like to watch PJ grow. "I think every dad wants to be a good dad, right; nobody wants to be a bad father, so with PJ I’m learning that she’s independent (she doesn’t like to be picked up, she doesn’t want you to feed her, she plays by herself). So I’m excited to allow her to make her own decisions, to grow in her own individuality. Right, so my philosophy is this is my kid now, but one day she will be someone else’s leader! I’ll help her connect those dots over the next 20 years," he said.
And being a dad has definitely taught Dennis something about himself, as he explained last year: "I’ve learned that I’m not as tough as I thought I was! LOL."
Porsha and Dennis may have split (she confirmed that they broke up during Season 13 of RHOA), but working together as parents is very important for them. In December 2020, Porsha noted that they "have a great co-parenting relationship."
After she confirmed her engagement to Simon Guobadia in May, Porsha shared an update on how everyone was dealing with the new situation. "Our [my and Simon's] relationship is a positive, loving step forward in everybody’s lives. Simon and Dennis are committed to being respectful and supportive of my happiness in this situation, as well as being the best co-parents they can be to baby PJ. Two Black men stepping up and being amazing people-let’s praise them!!!! It’s truly a beautiful moment in my life [and] we cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together. xoxo P #LoveWins," she wrote at the time.
