Even Ryan Murphy Was Freaked Out by Bunnygate

Kim Richards Has a Gift for Lisa Rinna

We can all probably agree that Bunnygate was one of the most uncomfortable moments in the history of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, possibly even in Real Housewives history period. We mean, who wasn't left utterly speechless when Kim Richards returned the stuffed animal bunny Lisa Rinna had gifted to her newborn grandson during this season's reunion because "it didn't feel like it had good energy"?

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and the Bravo App.

Even Ryan Murphy, the mind behind some of the most twisted TV moments as the creator of American Horror Story, was squirming in his seat over the moment. "I got an email from Ryan Murphy saying, 'I have written some scary sh**, but...'" Andy Cohen revealed during a For Your Consideration event in conversation with Jess Cagle, the editorial director of PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly.

The moment shocked Andy as well. "When I said hi to Kim, she said, 'I brought the bunny.' I said, 'Oh my God,'" Andy recounted. "I didn't know it was behind that couch. I did feel, and it was in the reunion show, I said, 'Oh God, I think the timing of that question was all wrong,' because I asked it kind of after they had made up. I didn't realize it was right behind the couch. I didn't realize she was going to pull it out at that moment. I was thrilled that she did because it was unbelievable."

After Lisa declined to take the bunny back, it found a "good loving home" in the Bravo Clubhouse among Andy's other famous knickknacks, even having the honor of being held by guests Lea Michele and Andrea Martin. But the bunny has also done quite a bit of traveling, joining Andy on some of his tour dates with Anderson Cooper in cities like Baltimore, Providence, and Atlantic City. The bunny has even been in a helicopter.

We'd say that things turned out just fine for this stuffed animal.
