“It's almost like a man cutting his manhood off, you know. Like her breasts are removed. It breaks my heart,” Diko shared. He went on to recount a time when Peggy was struggling most.

“I remember one day about a week after she did that and it just crushes me to think about this. She was really down on herself … She just got out of the shower and she was really upset. She opened up her robe and the expanders were really flat and she was just crying, saying ‘Look at me.’ She felt like she was a monster looking in the mirror at herself. She was devastated, crying like ‘What's going on?’” Diko revealed.

“For a woman to go through that is so difficult and it's so encouraging that Peggy is out there telling people, being positive,” he explained. The two went on to encourage other women to follow in Peggy’s footsteps and to continue to monitor their own health and get tested. “It's important for everybody to know what she's gone through so that way they are proactive about their health,” Diko added.
