Proof Ace Is Following in Mom Kandi Burruss’ Footsteps

Here’s more proof that the apple peach doesn’t fall far from the tree.

After growing anticipation, KFC officially premiered its “Nuggets of Wisdom” ad starring The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss and her 7-year-old son, Ace Tucker. Kandi teased the project on social media this week when the multi-hyphenate shared a few behind-the-scenes shots of the production equipment and stage props, as well as footage of her and Ace enjoying some tasty fare on set.

Kandi has a special history with the franchise as RHOA fans will recall. The commercial began with Kandi and Ace sitting at a dining table as they prepared to eat the mouth-watering nuggets. But before they dug in, Ace decided to offer Kandi some "nuggets of wisdom."

“Mommy, we need to talk,” Ace said as he proceeded to pull out a tablet. “Do you remember this?"

The little boy then played an iconic clip from RHOA Season 14, when Kandi and her castmate Marlo Hampton agreed to squash their beef over some KFC.  “So what did you learn?” Ace asked his mom after the video concluded.

“That I’ll be nice to anyone for some KFC?” Kandi responded, before reaching for the plate of nuggets.

“Not so fast, mommy,” Ace said, as pulled away the chicken and dangled a nugget in front of her face. “How are you gonna be your best self this year?”

“When they go low, I won’t go lower?” she replied.

“Good,” Ace said. “And if anyone says you’re not worldwide?”

“Just smile and ignore it?”

“That’s right,” Ace responded, as he dipped another nugget into some sauce. “And for this saucy bite, can I get a pet snake?” 

“Ace, you can get the whole zoo,” said Kandi who then took a satisfying bite.

The commercial was in support of the fast-food chain’s new fried chicken nuggets. Kandi called the menu item “the real deal” and said it received her and Ace’s stamp of approval. “I ain’t never skipped a beat or a nugget, especially [KFC’s] new Chicken Nuggets,” the mother of three captioned the ad. “Y’all these nuggets are SO good, you need to try them for yourself!”

The commercial received praise from RHOA and The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip alum Porsha Williams, Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis, and Kandi’s husband, Todd Tucker, who reshared the ad on his Instagram page.

“[Ace] and [Kandi] are so talented,” Todd wrote in the caption, “A blessing to see some of my fam making everlasting memories and getting to the bag together!!!”

It’s clear Ace has inherited his mom’s entrepreneurial spirit as well as her skills in front of the camera. Not only does he have his own successful YouTube channel, but he’s also taken up acting classes, as demonstrated in the new ad.

“Ace, I always say, that’s our can-do-it-all baby,” Kandi told The Daily Dish last year. “That boy is good at everything he tries. He’s open to try [anything]… pretty much anything he tries to do, he’s pretty good at it.”
