Kandi Burruss Reveals the Advice She Gives Riley About Her Future and Why She “Shouldn’t” Have Gotten a Dog
The RHOA mom offered some updates on eldest daughter Riley Burruss’ life today.
It sounds like Riley Burruss is living her best life. Her mom, Kandi Burruss, and stepdad, Todd Tucker, recently offered an update on the teen, confirming that college life agrees with her.
“She’s loving it,” Kandi shared with The Daily Dish this past spring. Riley is set to turn 20 in August, and while she pretty much has her career goals set, Kandi did note that she is still working it all out. “Yes, for sure [she wants to be a lawyer]. But then, like, she’ll say one minute, ‘Yeah, I want to be an influencer.’ But you never post [on Instagram]. Like, what are you talking about? I don’t get it. So I tell her to stick to the books, sis. She has to figure out whatever her [thing] is gonna be.”
While Riley may not post to Instagram constantly, she does often share delightful photos of her life in NYC as she pursues her undergraduate degree at NYU.
There is another aspect of Riley’s life that Kandi has some thoughts on. When The Daily Dish caught up with Kandi earlier this year, she expressed her take on her kid getting a pet dog. “Her and that dog. I told her she shouldn’t have got a dog, ’cause I feel like at that age, if you want to travel, if you want to do things, you don’t have time to be coming, trying to worry, checking on the dog. Like, she doesn’t need a dog,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member said. She added about the dog, “He don’t want to walk outside ’cause he gets nervous around a whole bunch of people.”
Todd, however, had a different take on the matter. “I think it was good for her, the responsibility. I think [during] COVID time, people were feeling a little down,” he said. “Dogs kind of bring that little [vibe], you know, what you need [energy]. And you know, she’s in New York by herself. And then it’s cool when she has to travel, she has to figure out, ‘What do I do with my dog?’ So it gives her this added responsibility, as she has to figure it out.”
In the midst of all that, Riley did mark a pretty major milestone earlier this year when she was the bartender on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in May. During her Clubhouse appearance, we learned some more details about her life at college and her plans for the summer, which you can check out at the top of this post.
