Kandi Burruss and Sanya Richards-Ross React to Drew Sidora’s Divorce

The Real Housewives of Atlanta castmates are weighing in ahead of Season 15.

The Real Housewives of AtlantaDrew Sidora and her husband of nearly 10 years, Ralph Pittman, are currently in the process of getting a divorce. And while fans got to see a few of Drew’s RHOA castmates react to the news in the recently released Season 15 trailer — namely, Marlo Hampton, who called the divorce announcement a “top story” online — Kandi Burruss and Sanya Richards-Ross weren’t among them.

That said, the two have since shared their responses. When asked if she was shocked by the divorce news, Kandi told Extra, “I was, simply because, first of all, my husband and I just produced a movie. It’s not out yet, but Drew is starring in it, and so Ralph was coming to set [and] checking on her… And actually, the last day of [The Piano Lesson] was Ralph’s birthday, and they came to New York to celebrate his birthday and to celebrate with us.”

Not long after that, “the announcement came out,” Kandi added. “[Drew] did not say anything. I was like, ‘Wait, I just saw her yesterday and she didn’t mention this.’”

Sanya was also surprised to hear about the former couple’s split because, like Kandi, she had also just celebrated Ralph’s birthday with them. “Oh, that came as a huge shock to me. Huge shock,” Sanya told Pop Culture. “I actually was at Ralph’s 40th birthday party two weeks prior to the news breaking out. So I was really, really sad for them, because they have children, and I think that’s the toughest part.”

“I know that they’ve had some issues in their marriage, but it was my hope that they would figure it out for their kids,” Sanya added, referencing Drew and Ralph’s son, Machai, and daughter, Aniya. (Drew is also the mother of an 11-year-old son, Josiah, from a previous relationship.)

“It’s still a lot unfolding,” Sanya concluded, “but I think all of us, we were really… Well, I will speak for myself. I was shocked.”

The rest of the RHOA cast is sure to weigh in on the divorce once Season 15 premieres in May. Drew, for her part, can be seen getting emotional when the topic arises in the trailer as a producer asks, “Are you ready to talk about Ralph?”

Crying, she responds, “Yeah.”
