Marlo Hampton Shared a Happy "Munty" Update About Her Nephews Michael and William
After calling the boys her "best friends," the RHOA auntie made an "embarrassing" visit to Michael's school.
For three years, Marlo Hampton has cared for her nephews, Michael and William, and as fans have seen on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 14, it's been an emotional journey. She’s reflecting on everything they've experienced and giving updates on their lives today.
Appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show with RHOA's Sanya Richards-Ross, Marlo explained that after experiencing ups and downs over the season, she was excited to get to a new place with her nephews, which she reflects on in the clip above.
“I missed them,” she added. “Them coming home was everything. It was everything… I’m happy they’re back, and I’ve just gotta get the help and support I need.”
That help and support includes therapy and “learning how to talk to” Michael and William without having to “yell and curse.” Meanwhile, Marlo admitted that she never keeps her word when it comes to punishment and consequences, which is something she’s working on. What makes it difficult though, she added, is that “in three years they’ve become my best friends, so I talk to them about everything.”
Now, she uses a “chart system” where Michael and William get rewarded for completing various household tasks. “So it’s like me just doing a different approach that I am so not used to,” Marlo added. “It’s just a love and a concern to where I want to make sure these boys are successful.”
That’s why she “[does] not play” when it comes to school, and if they don’t get their work done, she has no problems going to see their teachers.
She wasn’t joking either. On August 30, Marlo shared an Instagram photo of her paying a visit to Michael’s school. "Yup, Munty Marlo does random school pop-ups!” she captioned the post, adding three blue hearts and bicep muscle emojis. “I have great expectations for the 22/23 semester!”
And, yes, the surprise visit went exactly as you might expect. In her Instagram Stories the same day, Marlo posted another photo with her nephew, writing that her “Big baby” was “sooo embarrassed” she showed up in his classroom. Michael, for his part, confirmed her assessment in a subsequent video in which he says, “She came and embarrassed me.” It was all in good fun though, as the family capped off their day having a “Taco Tuesday” meal together.
