Garcelle Beauvais on Her Friendship with Lisa Vanderpump: "We Don't Even Talk About Housewives"
The RHOBH cast member also opens up about her son working for the Vanderpump Rules restaurateur.
Garcelle Beauvais and Lisa Vanderpump never crossed paths on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but they have been spotted out and about together, most recently at the grand opening of LVP's Vanderpump à Paris restaurant in Las Vegas last month.
So, when The Daily Dish caught up with Garcelle on the red carpet of NBCUniversal's Upfront last week, we just had to ask how this fabulous friendship began. "She was actually putting on an event for Haiti at Tom Tom. Yeah, and so I got to meet her," Garcelle recalled of the fundraiser, which took place back in October 2021. "There was Haitian music blaring. There were more Haitians than I knew there were in California that night there. So I just fell in love with what she was doing."
Of course, this is a cause close to the Haitian-born Garcelle's heart. But that night was personal for Garcelle in another major way. "And so, we chatted and sat at the same table and talked," Garcelle recalled of one conversation with Lisa at the event. "And I was like, 'Hey, my son's [Oliver Saunders] looking for a job in Vegas,' not knowing that she even had a place in Vegas. And so it turned out, he worked for her. And we're good."
Oliver was even there to celebrate the Vanderpump à Paris grand opening earlier this spring.
Garcelle told The Daily Dish that her friendship with Lisa was "organic" in how it developed. In fact, it's not their shared RHOBH connection that binds them at all. "We don't even talk about Housewives, her and I. We don't even talk about it," Garcelle shared. "She's not on the show. What's there to talk about?"
As far as how her fellow Beverly Hills Housewives feel about her being pals with LVP, Garcelle said we may just hear more about that this season of RHOBH. "They have their opinion," she teased.
It's been an exciting spring for Garcelle, who just released her memoir, Love Me As I Am, in April. Though RHOBH is one of Garcelle's current gigs, it is only just "a chapter" in her incredible life that is shared in the book, she told The Daily Dish.
With friends all throughout the Bravo-verse, many of whom have penned tomes of their own, Garcelle said that she didn't seek out any writing advice from her fellow Bravolebs, sharing, "It's all me."
By sharing her story, Garcelle is giving fans a look into her inspiring life like never before. "I just really wanted it to be authentic. I really wanted to be honest. And there were things in there that I was nervous about, but I did it anyway, because it's my story. And really, it's an homage to my mom for bringing me to the States and giving me the wings to fly," Garcelle said of her new book. "I'm living a life that I never even dreamt was possible."
