Jennifer Aydin Has an Interesting Theory on Dolores Catania and David Principe’s Post-Breakup Dynamic

The RHONJ cast member also shared how she feels about Dolores Catania’s loyalty today on WWHL.

Dolores Catania may have broken up with David Principe on this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but he's still very much in her life. Or rather, David has kept in communication with seemingly everyone in Dolores' family except her, especially amid her mother Valerie's health issues this season.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 premiere May 5th at 8/9c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

During the April 12 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the titular host asked his guest and RHONJ superfan, My Unorthodox Life's Julia Haart, for her take on all things Season 12, including how she would handle her ex speaking to everyone in her family but her if she were in Dolores' shoes. "I kind of think, in a weird way, it's a bit sweet. It's almost like he doesn't want to let her go," Julia theorizes in the clip below. "He doesn't know how to speak to her, but he's trying to take care of her around her, you know? Maybe I'm a hopeless romantic."

However, Julia's fellow guest, New Jersey Housewife Jennifer Aydin, offered a different take on the matter. "Or maybe he just wanted to avoid an awkward situation but still be there for the family he cares about. I don't know," she said.

The rest of the RHONJ crew, including Dolores' ex-husband and BFF, Frank Catania, had their own opinions on David's continued interactions with Dolores' family following their split on The Real Housewives of New Jersey After Show, which Bravo Insider members can access exclusively at the top of this post.

But as for how Dolores feels about it all, she said that she actually isn't fazed by it. "It's OK. Actually, I'm OK with it. As long as my family's getting the information that they need from somebody they know to be comfortable with it, that's all that matters to me," she shared on the RHONJ After Show. "I'm OK with that. You know, I was just happy to be at peace with the status of the relationship at that point."

Of course, RHONJ fans know that Jennifer and Dolores have had their own issues. Earlier in Season 12, Dolores' loyalty to Jennifer came into question amid the drama with Margaret Josephs.

Jennifer commented on Dolores' support during Tuesday night's WWHL After Show, putting it into context with Dolores' friendship with Teresa Giudice. "I mean, I think Dolores tries to defend Teresa, it's obvious. I mean, a lot more than she's defended me in a lot better of a way," Jennifer says in the clip below. "But it's funny, because when I defend Teresa, I'm a puppet, and when Dolores does it, she's just not being a good friend to Margaret. But whatever. To each his own."
