Will Shannon Beador and Kelly Dodd Ever Be Friends?
It looks like this is one thing the #RHOC castmates can agree on.
First impressions are important, and no one knows that better than Shannon Beador and Kelly Dodd. Ever since these two met at Heather Dubrow's yacht party at the beginning of this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, they just haven't seemed to click.
But the funny thing is, both Shannon and Kelly say they liked each other at first. "I mean, I thought that Kelly seemed like a nice girl, and I thought that I was being kind to her, but apparently she didn't agree," Shannon recently told The Daily Dish (clip above).
Kelly expressed a similar sentiment to The Daily Dish, explaining that one of her first comments to Shannon about her alma mater, USC, wasn't meant to be offensive. "I feel like I got along well with her; she doesn't like me," she said. "I was kidding around with her. Everybody says, 'University of Spoiled Children.' It was a joke. Everybody says that. That's just a normal thing to say."
However, the two don't agree on how Shannon acted during the night they first met. "When you come into the show like Kelly did this year, you try to be nice. I tried to be nice to her because I was in that position at one point. But she called me negative, and she said that I was angry, that I was this and that when I first met her at the boat party," Shannon said. "And I had a nice conversation with her about her child. I had a nice conversation about where [her husband] Michael grew up because it was close to where I went to high school. We had a nice time, so I don't understand where all the negativity came out. But clearly, she's not a fan of Shannon Beador."
Kelly said that Shannon was actually "cold" and "rude" to her that night. "And that's why I said, 'I thought you were acting a little standoffish,'" Kelly explained her comments to Shannon at Meghan King Edmonds' house after the soiree. "So she's making up all these things to act like she has a problem with me. I don't have a problem with her; she has a problem with me, and that's her own personal problem."
The RHOC newbie's feelings about Shannon quickly changed after she felt attacked at the '70s party. "So now that she tried to sick her minions on me, now I have a problem with her," Kelly told The Daily Dish (clip above).
These days, Shannon is still not feeling the love around Kelly."I don't really get along with Kelly. I don't," she said. "I definitely made an effort. She would probably say she has, too."
Though it sounds like Shannon and Kelly don't agree on much, they can agree on one thing: Neither of them see a friendship blooming in the future. "I don't think she and I would ever be friends just because we have completely different senses of humor. She doesn't get me. She clearly doesn't like me," Kelly said. "I don't think I have anything in common with the lady, to be honest. She's not [a] fun-loving, happy-go-lucky kind of a woman, and I don't really see eye-to-eye with people that are negative. She's a 'Negative Nancy' to me. So I don't think I could ever be friends with somebody who always talks crap."
Shannon also said their differences may be too great to overcome. "I don't know if I can be friends with Kelly. Not close friends, because we're just too different. We have a lot of different philosophies on life," she said. "We're kind of like oil and water."
We wonder how next Monday night's episode of RHOC will impact Shannon and Kelly's relationship, too.
