Austen Kroll on His Role in That Rumor About Shep Rose and Danni Baird: "It Bit Me in the Ass"

Austen Kroll was the one who told Madison LeCroy the rumor she spilled about Danni Baird and Shep Rose.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Madison LeCroy may have spread the rumor about Shep Rose and Danni Baird during the Southern Charm crew's trip to Colorado earlier this season, but it turned out she wasn't the only one with loose lips. It was soon revealed that Austen Kroll was the one who told her about the gossip in the first place.

How to Watch

Watch Southern Charm on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

Austen explained why he shared that information with Madison during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, August 14. "You're dating someone. You really think that they're not gonna divulge the things that you tell them, and I unfortunately just kept on getting burned," he said. "I want to be open, and it bit me in the ass a couple of times, that's for sure."

Shep and Danni both immediately shot down Madison's claims during the episode of Southern Charm. Watch the Charleston gang open up more about the incident during the Southern Charm Season 6 After Show, above.

Danni expressed how hurt she was by both Austen and Madison when this rumor was shared during an interview with The Daily Dish in July. She also noted that she hadn't seen much of either of them since this season of Southern Charm ended.

"It's gonna be hard for me to even look at either of them," she said. "I'm still very betrayed. I am very hurt. I feel as though I've seen their true colors, and no thanks. Honestly, there's nothing really an apology could do. Believe it or not, Austen has never apologized to me for his role in this. He has never even addressed it with me. Madison did apologize right after, but I was too upset at the time to even hear it. I mean, they could apologize, but honestly the best thing they could do is literally just change how they treat people. You can't do this stuff to other people and not expect for karma to hit you like a freight train later."

The Southern Charm crew will come together to discuss all the Season 6 drama when the reunion kicks off on Wednesday at 9/8c. Watch a preview, below.
