Craig Conover Reveals the Real Reason He Told Kathryn and Not Austen About the Naomie Hookup

There’s no doubt that the Southern Charm Season 8 premiere brought a slew of drama to the Charleston crew, as fans caught up on the latest developments between the cast members. And the friendship drama between Craig Conover and Austen Kroll was definitely one of the much-discussed topics in the June 23 episode, with both Craig and Austen opening up to their fellow castmates about their issues with each other.

“The problem is that I don’t tell [Austen] secrets anymore, I don’t trust him anymore,” Craig told John Pringle during the episode, explaining how Austen had told Craig’s girlfriend, Paige DeSorbo, that Craig had hooked up with someone else. “Like, where it started was in the spring. I was newly single because me and Natalie broke up,” Craig shared. “So now it’s summer. I’ve been hanging out with Paige, but we’re not exclusive, and I had, like, rebounded with Natalie, which only happened twice. And I told Austen about it. But what Austen didn’t know is I called Paige and told her.”

When Craig appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on June 23, alongside Shep Rose, he doubled down on his feelings toward Austen. After a virtual fan asked Craig why he felt he “could trust Kathryn [Dennis] with [his] secret about hooking up with Naomie [Olindo] when she is just as big of a pot-stirrer as Austen,” Craig revealed why he had confided in Kathryn over Austen about his hookup with Naomie in Las Vegas.

“They’re just two different things. And Kathryn, I trust,” he said, adding, “I mean, Austen is doing great these days, but Kathryn’s never burned me and that goes a long way with me. Once you kinda lose my trust, it’s hard to get back.”

Andy Cohen then pointed out one detail Craig had overlooked regarding the situation, telling him, “But Kathryn told Shep.” Shep nodded in response to Andy’s remark, prompting Craig to say, “Then I shouldn’t trust anyone. But it shouldn’t have been a secret in the first place.” Shep then dropped the news that Austen had said to him, “No, that didn’t happen. [Craig] didn’t hook up with Naomie in Las Vegas,” and shared that Kathryn was actually the one who confirmed the rumor to Shep.

Craig seemed to reconsider his stance on the matter, saying, “Maybe I got it backwards.”
