When it comes to homes in Charleston, no one's pad can top Patricia Altschul's. The Southern Charm matriarch has one of the most enviable houses in town. And that's why when Kathryn C. Dennis set up shop in her apartment, she looked to the stylish lady for some home decor inspo.
"I knew I wanted to have this really cool vanity with my makeup brushes out, everything my past people hated," she told The Daily Dish. "I just wanted to display all that fun sh--, like makeup, hair brushes. I wanted it to look like Patricia's; I was idolizing her vanity in the bathroom. I'm not even gonna lie — she's like really queen of a real castle that exists. I don't know, goals, I guess."
Kathryn made the apartment her own after a stint living back home with her parents, and she isn't hating on having her independence and own space. "It felt really great to be in an apartment and just a space that I can exist in. My apartment is the first time I'm feeling like [it's] my home and really mine — and it's a real home. In the past, I felt very displaced, per se. And I can decorate, do whatever I want. It's nice. It liberates me. I feel like I have a homebase."
That homebase also includes plenty of space for her two young kids, Kensington and Saint Julien. "In my apartment, I was able to give my kids their own room. And I felt just really proud of that," she said. "And then I was able to buy lots of fun things to put on the wall. It was nice to go and pick out kid stuff and feel like a kid picking it out and just have fun with it. And it's kind of cool to see them exist in that space and know I provided it myself. It feels nice."
