Austen Kroll Clarifies Craig Conover’s Comments on Shep Rose and Taylor Ann Green
The Southern Charm cast member weighed in on a tense episode for Shep and Taylor on WWHL.
As Shep Rose and Taylor Ann Green let fans into their relationship on this season of Southern Charm (clip above), the couple experienced a difficult moment in the July 21 episode.
Things became tense between Shep and Taylor after she told him to “be good” as he headed out on the town with Austen Kroll and Craig Conover during a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina. “She definitely is skeptical of our time apart, and that’s because of the past,” Shep said in an interview during the episode. “But I’m really over it.”
Shep later shared with Craig what was going on with Taylor. Craig got pretty vocal about their relationship in the episode, coming to Taylor’s defense given Shep’s dating history.
During Austen’s July 21 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, he addressed the campfire and landmines analogy Craig shared with him during the episode about Shep and Taylor. “Well, first off, Craig is a big-time embellisher," Austen said. “So take things that he says with a grain of salt.”
Austen was asked if he thought Shep would ever be ready for commitment. “You know what, that’s a good question that I think he asks himself often,” Austen said on WWHL. “He’s very honest about that with himself, and I think that’s the only thing you could say.”
When host Andy Cohen asked if it would be “a long night for Shep” following this episode of Southern Charm, Austen shared that it might be a little difficult for his friend to watch. “I mean, what you want to tell your partner is, like, ‘Hey, we are strong and we are good, and this did not happen yesterday. We know what happened,’” Austen said. “But it’s not always the easiest once an episode airs like that, you know?”
As for how things might be at Shep’s house after the episode, Austen admitted, “I don’t want to be there.”
Shep previously addressed his future with Taylor during an interview with The Daily Dish earlier this summer. “Well, I’m getting older, so I need to figure that out [marriage]. I mean, I’m in a good headspace in that regard, by the way. I’ve really been thinking a lot about it,” he said. “I think that’s the only reason I’d get married, is to have a family. Taylor would be, like, the best mom in the world. I can already tell that.”
