Chrissy Teigen Explains Her Iconic Oscars Night Reaction to Stacey Dash

"You know, I gotta show my face," she said after making a viral award show face for the second year in a row.

Leave it to Chrissy Teigen to walk away from the Oscars responsible for one of the most buzzed-about moments of the night. The Lip Sync Battle co-host made headlines when her grimace (see below), in response to Stacey Dash's baffling cameo, went viral. Stacey's brief appearance — where she was billed as director of the Oscars' minority outreach program, which poked fun at the actress' controversial views on race in America — confused many. Now, Chrissy is offering up some insight into what she was thinking in that moment.

"Our whole area was still talking about it well into the Sarah Silverman segment because we were just so floored by the silence," Chrissy said on Good Morning America Tuesday. "And it was so funny to see Chris [Rock] and Kevin [Hart] both look at each other like, 'Oh man, that was weird.' It was so funny to us. You know, I gotta show my face. I can't hold it in."

And she knew almost instantly that her reaction was spreading like wildfire around the world. "My phone was going insane. I was like, 'What have I done now?'" she said. "Because you can't tell when the cameras are on. There's no red light [there]. You have no idea. I can't believe I did it again though."

This is the second time that one of Chrissy's reaction shots have become the stuff of legend. During last year's Golden Globes, her cry face following John Legend's win for "Glory" from Selma was an instant classic. "I still get sent the one from the Globes," she said. "So now I have another year of this happening. I love seeing my Instagrams right now though, because people are turning it into all sorts of different memes. I love it."

And don't forget to tune into Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday where Chrissy will be on hand to celebrate the show's 1000 episodes.
