Lindsay Hubbard Opens Up About Her Sobriety on the Summer House Season 7 Premiere

After months of being sober in solidarity with Carl, Lindsay shared an update with the cast on the February 13 premiere.

Carl Radke made a commitment to live a sober lifestyle shortly before Summer House Season 5 premiered back in early 2021, and he marked two full years of sobriety in January 2023.

His now-fiancée, Lindsay Hubbard, also abstained from drinking alcohol for a period of about five months, starting at the end of 2021, because as she said on the show, Carl was “struggling with his own sobriety around the holidays” and she wanted “to support him.”

As viewers saw when the couple visited Stowe for a quick getaway on Winter House Season 2, Lindsay did support Carl by drinking nonalcoholic beverages.

Fast-forward to when the pair headed to the Hamptons for Summer House Season 7, and Lindsay had an update to share on her sobriety while the cast was cooking their first-night dinner on the February 13 premiere.

Lindsay asked Paige DeSorbo about “what beverages“ they had in the house. Paige initially offered a list of soft drinks, and she told newbie Samantha Feher that “Lindsay doesn’t drink.” However, Lindsay confirmed that she was drinking alcohol again in moderation.

“Carl is sober, so I went sober with him for, like, five months,” she explained to Samantha, before adding that she made a change around Easter because she “really want[ed] to have a glass of wine” with her aunt, Rhonda.

“Yeah, so now I drink again, but I don’t black out,” she continued. “That’s as best as I can explain it.”

Later on in the premiere, Carl also revealed a bit of an update on his own sobriety journey.

When Mya Allen pulled Carl aside to talk about the rift in their friendship (which happened after she texted Carl about smoking weed following the cast’s appearance on an episode of Family Feud a few months earlier), he confirmed that he was no longer living a “California sober” lifestyle.

“I’m not smoking weed like I used to,” he told Mya. In a confessional, Carl said he had previously smoked the substance because it hadn’t “[turned him] into a flaming asshole” like alcohol had.

You can see more from Carl and Lindsay (including their road to an engagement) by tuning in to Season 7.
