Amanda Batula Reacts to Carl Radke Leaving Loverboy: “It’s a Bummer”

The Summer House cast member shared why she “always knew” there was a chance Carl would leave the company.

A major chapter in Carl Radke, Kyle Cooke, and Amanda Batula’s Loverboy journey is officially coming to an end.

How to Watch

Watch Summer House on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

The three Summer House cast members have worked together at the alcohol brand for several years, but Carl confirmed his Loverboy departure on February 10.

“I’m beyond proud of what I’ve done for that company, but for me day to day — I’m doing other things now, which is great,” he said to ET about stepping down as the VP of sales. “I think it was best I moved on.”

When the company launched in 2018, Carl had not yet started his sobriety journey. Once Carl decided to stop drinking alcohol, he told ET that it was “challenging” for him to be “standing in bars and traveling all around” for the alcohol brand. “I’m looking at it, I’m like, this doesn’t align necessarily authentic with me,” he explained.

After Carl confirmed his exit, his best friend and Loverboy boss, Kyle, told The Daily Dish that he knew there was always a “possibility” that the 38-year-old would “struggle to make it work” once he got sober.

His wife, who is the creative director of Loverboy, reiterated that sentiment during her chat with Page Six

“It’s a bummer. We love Carl,” Amanda said. “He’s been a part of the business with us from the beginning, and when he decided to become sober — which was obviously for the best — we always knew that there was a chance that he would end up parting ways.”

Amanda noted that “the door is always open” if Carl decides he wants to return to Loverboy.

“We’re so grateful that he stuck it out for as long as he had. You move on in life, you move on from jobs,” she added. “I’m just really happy that we’re able to keep that friendship there, because that’s the most important thing, and we’re there to support him.”

Amanda and Kyle’s friendship with Carl will be put to the test on Summer House Season 7.

On the February 13 premiere, Kyle and Carl discussed their work tension and how Carl’s relationship with Lindsay Hubbard may have affected their friendship dynamic.

Kyle said he “hardly even recognize[d]” Carl, while Carl admitted that things had been “a little rocky” for him at Loverboy.

As the Season 7 trailer revealed, Carl and Kyle will go through some more ups and downs in their friendship before the summer is over.

While fans will have to tune in to find out what happens, Kyle has confirmed that the two are in a much better place now.

“Carl and I have so much love and respect for one another,” he told The Daily Dish, after confirming that they were making their friendship a major “priority” following Carl’s Loverboy exit.
