In the last episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Ryan Vieth chastised his mom, Tamra Judge, for trying to have a heart-to-heart with him, as their family "doesn't do feelings." In The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show, the RHOC mom expanded more on why their family doesn't typically talk about how they're feeling.
Tamra said she "kind of" "does feelings" now, but noted, "It's hard. We're not that lovey-dovey group."
"I grew up where, the time or the age, I think everybody was like this, or maybe it was just my family, but you just didn't really talk about your feelings. You just kind of swept them under the rug and just be like, 'Get over it. It's not that big of a deal.' So there was no 'I love you' or 'What did you do today?'" she explained.
In fact, the circumstances under which Tamra's parents broke up contributed to their tendency to sweep things under the rug; check out the clip above to hear the story. And below, Tamra explores how she thinks Ryan's childhood has affected him as an adult today.
"I had Ryan at 18 — pregnant at 17, had him at 18, and Darren, his father, we broke up probably a year after Ryan was born. And so I was working six days a week; Ryan was at my mom's house most of the time and it was what it was. So it was a lot of practice. I was 18, 19 years old trying to raise a 1-year-old and I wasn't fit to it at all and I didn't get remarried 'til Ryan was 13," Tamra recalled, before explaining how her marriage to Simon Barney affected Ryan.
