Edwin Arroyave Opens up About Dove’s Upcoming Neurosurgery
RHOBH's Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave confirmed Dove was diagnosed with Lambdoid Craniosynostosis.
Edwin Arroyave is opening up about daughter Dove's upcoming neurosurgery shortly after wife Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave confirmed their little girl has been diagnosed with Lambdoid Craniosynostosis. Dove, who was born in February, will undergo surgery later this month.
"Life is always going to punch you in the face," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband wrote about "difficult news about our sweet baby girl."
He continued, "It happens every time. Right when you're about to experience blessing and fulfillment in life, something comes along that threatens to bring you down. Those challenges can shape us into who we’re meant to be, or they can scare us into going back to who we used to be. I feel that lately more than ever. When it comes to business, the challenges and tests seem bearable. But when it comes to the people I love most, the challenges test me. These last two months have brought challenges. But more than ever, I’m stronger in my faith. More than ever, God has a plan. I'm going to get through this and stay the course."
According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition "is a birth defect in which one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of your baby's skull (cranial sutures) close prematurely (fuse), before your baby's brain is fully formed. Brain growth continues, giving the head a misshapen appearance."
The Mayo Clinic notes that "most children have normal cognitive development and achieve good cosmetic results after surgery. Early diagnosis and treatment are key."
