Carole Radziwill Explains What's *Really* Going on in Her Friendship with Bethenny Frankel

Do our eyes deceive us, or are Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radiziwill not getting along this season of The Real Housewives of New York City? The trailer for this season definitely has us curious about where this relationship stands today. 

In the preview, there appears to be some tension between the onetime besties. In one moment, Bethenny admits, "I'm not sure Carole's as excited to see me as she used to be." In another, it looks like Carole confronts Bethenny about their lack of camaraderie these days. "Every time we're together, you're aggressive with me," Carole says to Bethenny. 

Well, it looks like our suspicions are true. Carole shared what's going on in her friendship with Bethenny during a recent interview with E! News. "I'm an idealistic kind of person. I look at the world that way, I look at people that way, and I think I looked at her that way," she said. "And I feel like now I see her a little bit more realistically and less idealistically. There were just some things that were said and done that I just felt like weren't completely consistent with the girl I knew."

Carole went on to say that she "never expected that to happen," and she teased what went wrong in her relationship with Bethenny. "It was a bunch of things," she explained. "It just felt like suddenly it was very gossip-y and mean and unnecessary, and I was just like, that's not the person I knew." 

Carole and Bethenny's friendship has previously come under fire among the RHONY squad, with Dorinda Medley accusing them of being "mean girls" in Season 8. "Bethenny and I are good friends. I don't have to defend that. It was an odd thing. But we both understood it. We were both like, 'They've never had a really good friend that they want to hang out with all the time?' Maybe they haven't. Maybe they don't have that kind of good girlfriend," Carole told The Daily Dish about her friendship with Bethenny in April 2017. "But Bethenny and I developed that kind of friendship. I'm not gonna defend it with this particular group of women, but it is what it is."

Though Bethenny also previously admitted to The Daily Dish that she and Carole "definitely get into it," and they have "different personalities," she spoke about how much she valued their friendship. "Carole's amazing," she said. "Carole is the best thing of the entire show for me. She's my real friend."
