Serious Smoking Break! This Resort Offers the Country's Most Expensive Cigar

The ultimate way to wind down apres ski, this puff costs a cool $2,000.

After swooshing down the slopes in Colorado’s ski country, head on over to one of the area’s best hotels, the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch. Here you can warm up with a dram of Scotch and a fancy cigar... in fact, the very best cigar.

The cozy chic, speakeasy-style Bachelors Lounge on the property now offers the king of all smokes: His Majesty’s Reserve Gurkha — at an eyebrow-raising price of $2,000 a pop.

So what makes this cigar so special?

Part status symbol, part good smoke, His Majesty’s Reserve Gurkha is made in the Dominican Republic (home to the luxe rooms and villas of celeb hot spot Casa de Campo) by Fumar Cigars. The company specialize in the rare and wonderful... with years-long waiting lists to underscore the point.

The HMR Gurkha is lovingly made with aged tobacco leaves, bound with 18-year-old Connecticut Maduro wrappers, and then soaked in the seriously high-end 40-year-old Louis XIII Remy Martin Cognac.

The Ritz-Carlton managed to snag the last box of the original cigars so it is, quite literally, your only chance to smoke the one that started it all (are you listening Matthew McConaughey?). To do so, though, you need to be a guest at the hotel or a member of the exclusive Founder’s Club at the Bachelors Lounge.

So take off your skies, little bunny, and stay the night.
