Ariana, Katie, and Scheana Address the Tom Sandoval Drama: "It's a Very Tumultuous Time"
The group spoke about the tensions while accepting an award. They won the honor with Lala Kent, who also reacted to the exciting news.
Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, Scheana Shay, and Lala Kent were named the Best Reality On-Screen Team on Sunday, May 7. The latter wasn't with her Vanderpump Rules cast mates to accept the award, but Ariana, Katie, and Scheana delivered a thank-you speech in matching sweatshirts.
Katie kicked things off by thanking the fans who voted for them, and Scheana followed up by expressing her gratitude to the Vanderpump Rules crew. "The team isn't just us — I mean, we have an entire production team behind us that makes this show possible," she said. "And this is just so exciting! We won Best Team all because of you guys, the fans. Thank you so much for voting."
Ariana spoke next, taking the time to acknowledge everything their friend group has gone through over the years — which, of course, includes the current drama stemming from her and Tom Sandoval's split. As she put it, "We've been through so many ups and downs as friends. Obviously, it's a very tumultuous time in all of our lives, but we are truly at our best when we come together as a team, so thank you."
Lala was ultimately involved in the end, too.
In a separate video, she said, "Thank you all for voting for me and my most favorite girls, Scheana, Katie, and Ariana. We are beyond grateful. This is crazy! Again, thank you guys so much."
Lala also took to her Instagram Stories to share a post first made by Katie's mom, which shows Katie, Scheana, and Ariana celebrating the award win and Scheana's birthday. "I've never had fomo, but I do in this moment," Lala captioned the Story. "Happy birthday, scheash, and congratulations to my very strong, ambitious, badass, and entertaining girls."
They accepted the award on Sunday when the winners for the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards were announced.
The award win comes after Scheana and Katie recently reconciled following their Season 10 feud. As fans may recall, Scheana encouraged Katie's ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, to hook up with Raquel Leviss. The two ended up making out at Scheana’s August wedding to Brock Davies, and the kiss itself fractured Katie’s friendships with both Scheana and her ex.
Sandoval and Ariana's split was, however, the catalyst for ending Katie and Scheana's feud. They united to rally around Ariana after her break-up, and Lala later revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she had a plan to "get them back together."
The two have since hung out on several occasions, and during Scheana's own appearance on WWHL in April, she said she regrets the way she treated Katie throughout Vanderpump Rules Season 10.
“Watching what Katie was going through, had I known all of that at the time, I would have never, ever cheered [Schwartz and Raquel] on or had any support for that situation,” Scheana explained. “It’s been honestly very hard to watch every scene with Katie, because my heart breaks for her in every scene that I see because I know her emotions were real. I just wish — and I said this to her when we hung out — I wish we had more conversations in person at the time instead of just the catty BS back and forth, because I think we could have gotten to where we are now [back] then.”
