Tom Schwartz Shares the Surprising Story of How He Ended Up in Business with Tom Sandoval After All These Years
The Tom Tom co-owner opened up about the long, strange journey that brought him to his latest milestone.
It's wild to think that a Craigslist ad was the impetus behind one of the most legendary friendships of all time (well, in our minds, anyway), but that's exactly what brought Tom Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, and Jax Taylor together. We learned this — and a whole lot more — from a touching Instagram post that Schwartz posted on July 12.
Fresh off the high of seeing all his Vanderpump Rules friends turn out to the Tom Tom soft opening, Schwartz took a moment to reflect on the adventures that led him to opening his own bar with his bestie. To caption a photo of Sandoval posing languidly atop the Tom Tom bar, Schwartz wrote: "I had the CRAZIEST dream last night." (Spoiler alert: it wasn't a dream.)
He continued: "Somehow I had moved to LA and moved in with this dude I met on Craigslist [Tom Sandoval]. He shaved his forehead & taught me how to dress. Preener with a heart of gold. He asked me if his old pal from Miami could move in with us and I said sure as long as he's not too much of a presence. Cut to this big loud tan & gorgeous ahole barging in and telling me his name was [Jax Taylor]."
Tom went on to describe how Lisa Vanderpump's influence helped to mold his career, gush over his wife Katie Maloney-Schwartz (who loves tacos as much as he does), and marvel: "Blockbuster & Toys 'R' us went out of business, Donald Trump was president and someone made a movie called human centipede. It was strange as heck."
