Is Kelly Dodd Still in Love with Her Ex-Husband Michael Dodd?
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom responds to Vicki Gunvalson's comments about her newly single life.
We're only two episodes in to this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and we've already hit the first major blowup of the season. Things got heated between Vicki Gunvalson and Kelly Dodd in Monday night's episode after Kelly confronted Vicki about rumors that she set up her ex-husband, Michael Dodd, with another woman and had even gone on double dates with them (clip above).
Kelly said she felt like she was "blindsided" by Vicki during an interview with The Daily Dish prior to the episode. "I'm all about having Michael meet somebody and have a girlfriend or whatever; I just didn't think my girlfriend would be the person to go on double dates and would be the one that's setting him up. It wasn't even about that; it was about that she didn't tell me, and when she didn't tell me, and I heard it from somebody else, it made matters worse," Kelly explained why she got so upset during the conversation. "And her reaction, her visceral reaction to me was awful. And it made me really sad that she was trying to nonchalantly just brush it off: It wasn't her fault. She didn't need to tell me; Michael should have. It felt like somebody got a knife and just stabbed me in the back."
Kelly went on to say that Vicki could have made the situation better by admitting that she made a mistake. "She should've [given] me a head's up. I don't want to read it from somebody else," she said. "It's like, do you not have any girl code?"
During the episode, Vicki said that she thought Kelly was "overreacting" because she's "still in love with Michael," a sentiment that the OG of the RHOC has also expressed in interviews and in her blog on Bravotv.com.
However, Kelly disagreed with Vicki's analysis. "Listen, Michael is the father of my kid [daughter Jolie]. I've been married to him for a very long-term marriage, very long time. I will always have feelings for Michael. I will always love him. He's always been in my life," Kelly said in response to Vicki's comment. "I don't have those feelings where I want to have sex with him. But I want him to be happy, I want him to have a girlfriend, I want him to have these things, but I don't have those feelings for him anymore. I love him; I'm just not in love with him. So Vicki can make up her own stories or whatever she wants."
Vicki gave her take on the situation in her latest blog on Bravotv.com. "Keep in mind Steve [Lodge] and Michael are still close friends and see each other often. It would be logical Steve and I would see who he was dating and even spend time with them, so I am awe struck at the outrage Kelly has demonstrated towards me," she wrote. "The person Michael dated for a short time is a friend of mine. Both her and Michael asked me to keep their relationship confidential. They told me that they wanted to share that information with Kelly when they thought the time was right. I think this is honestly the first time I have been yelled at for staying out of people’s business."
Vicki also shared where she thinks their friendship goes from here. "I hope we can move on from this unusually odd issue, because I consider Kelly a good friend of mine," she wrote in her blog.
As for Kelly, she seeks some advice from her wise-beyond-her-years daughter Jolie on how to proceed with Vicki in the next episode of RHOC Monday at 9/8c. Check out a preview, below.
