It wasn't the ending everyone expected, but on Monday night, we finally saw the meeting we've been waiting nine seasons for on the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. Before they said goodbye, the cast sat down with James Lipton and his students for a special episode of Inside the Actors Studio. We've got the juicy bits that didn't air, including Jason Segel discussing his mom's reaction to his very, umm, revealing role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Alyson Hannigan discussed the beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer part that made her famous, "I wish I were more like Willow in so many ways. Especially the computer skills—that would be so handy...She was wonderful.
Cobie Smulders spent Monday nights in strangers' homes for nine years but was a relative newcomer when the series premiered in 2005. The fame that comes with starring in a hit series often makes the actress "uncomfortable."
Josh Radnor told James Lipton his directorial debut, Happythankyoumoreplease, which he also starred in, was a "startlingly great experience" but next time around, "I'm planning not to be in so I can see what I can do just behind the camera."
The funny and Muppet-affiliated Jason Segel shared the story of his not-so-PG appearance in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He thought it would be a "funny joke" to not warn his mother that his goods would be on full display in the film. She didn't find it funny.
"She left the theater for a minute and she came back looking like she had maybe cried in the bathroom," said Segel. "The next day I was CC'd on an email to my entire family that said, 'I would like to tell you all that Jason has chosen to do full-frontal nudity in his new film however, I would like to tell you, it is not gratuitous, and [it is] essential to the plot.'"
