Which Family Member Is Kyle Richards Having the Toughest Time Casting for in Her New TV Project?

Kyle Richards is one step closer to bringing her latest TV project to life. After it was announced last year that she would produce a single-camera comedy based on her childhood, earlier this month TV Land confirmed that a pilot will be filmed for the series. The show was previously described as a "dark comedy" and was inspired by Kyle's own mom and family, including her two older sisters Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton. And that adds a little bit of pressure when it comes to casting the series. "You know what, that's really hard [to find who will be playing me]. That's not as hard as picking my mom," Kyle told The Daily Dish. "It's going to have to be a child that's mature for their age and can handle the role. It's a lot harder than casting a regular script."

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and the Bravo App.

However The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills actress is certainly enjoying the process. "I'm really excited. It feels surreal because right now we're starting the casting process. I've only ever been the one walking in to the casting office being auditioned, so now the fact that I am going to be on the other end of it is crazy. I actually feel so bad for the actors because I know what a painful process that can be. So I think 'Oh my god, it's going to be so hard for me to watch' because I know how they're feeling."

While Kyle has spent nearly her entire life in front of the camera, it's been interesting for her to be on the other side of it and get a crash-course education in television production. She credits her "incredible team" for helping her through it all. For the series, she's working with executive producers John Wells (Shameless, ER, The West Wing) and John Riggi (The Comeback, 30 Rock, Will & Grace). "I mean it's just starting now, but even the whole process of getting the project made and getting it this far has been a learning process for me, so it's really exciting. I mean I've been in television the majority of my life starting at 3, 4 years old, so I've always been in front of the camera. But it's amazing to know how little I knew about behind the camera, so it's been a great education for me and very fun."

And while she's an executive on the series, she hasn't yet ruled out any appearances on the show. "I don't know. I've thought about that, but the truth is right now I'm just going to be behind the camera but you never know."
