If Arrested Development Returns for Season 5, This Actor Wants In
Don't fret: Carl Weathers is totally game to hang with Tobias all over again.
Somewhere in the universe someone is always hoping that Arrested Development might return for one more season. Well, according to show creator Mitch Hurwitz, there's a good chance the Bluths will be resurrected. Mitch spoke about a potential fifth season in an interview with Esquire, where he noted he's always got the beloved series on his brain.
"It'll happen. It'll definitely happen," he said. "Not before the election, but it's definitely going to happen. I say that because the actors want to do it, the studio wants to do it, Netflix wants to do it, I want to do it. It's just making it happen. There's no one resisting. There's a recut, too, of the fourth season, just to make it airable on TV. They're like the old Arrested Developments. We redid all the narration and reshot a few little things. Now we have 22 episodes, and they're delightful to watch and they're much less work than the Netflix series. My hope is we'll find a place to air those."
Of course, should he be looking to revisit any of the show's many kooky characters, Carl Weathers, who played a parody version of himself who served as acting coach to Tobias Funke (David Cross), is more than down to make a cameo. "I am certain I am still trying to get into Tobias' bank account, there is no question. And I'm sure Carl Weathers is trying to get into a few other people's bank accounts. In fact, how much money do you have? If you would like an acting lesson, if you could tell me how much you can afford I think we can work something out," he joked to The Daily Dish, before volunteering his services for any potential new seasons.
"Of course I would. I love those guys and Mitch did such a beautiful job of putting that all together so it would be fun," he said. "I know [it was] crazy. And that's always fun, to do something a little crazy and a little different, so yes I'd be back in a heartbeat."
