These Lifelike, Cactus-Shaped Treats Are Like Coachella in Cupcake Form (PICS)
Brooklyn Floral Delight bakery is putting out cactus cupcakes we can't stop staring at.
We'll take a pretty cupcake (or three) any time a sugar craving strikes. But we recently fell into an Instagram rabbit hole that has us craving sweets that look mildly terrifying to eat. Can you imagine biting down on a cactus, and then going back for more? Take a peek at the photos below, and you just might become a believer.
In New York City, Brooklyn Floral Delight is a bakery run by Jiahn Kang. (Note: The bakery is actually in the East Village, but retains the name it had in a previous location.) A master with sugar, frosting, and food coloring, Kang churns out edible art objects that feature edible cacti, succulents, and flowers. “The colors are the biggest part of making it look realistic,” Kang told Vogue. “Mixing colors into the buttercream is similar to painting.”
Though the former jewelry designer creates plenty of sugary pansies, peonies, and roses, the cacti cakes are what keep her business blowing up on social media. And, it's easy to see why.
The prickly green treats are like Coachella in cupcake form, so it's no wonder that free-spirited Instagram fanatics can't stop staring. And frankly, neither can we. Scroll down to see the cupcakes that have us slack-jawed, and suddenly craving a trip to the desert.
