Carla Hall's Top Tips for Holiday Hosting

Carla Hall knows first hand that holiday dinner parties can mean that the host spends a disproportionate amount of time cooking, which can mean leaving some of the other details forgotten. But if that scenario sounds familiar to your hosting style, the Top Chef alum (and co-host of The Chew) has a brilliant tip for you.

"I think in terms of decor, a lot of times people are spending so much time in the kitchen and their decor is a second thought," she told The Feast. "But maybe taking some wrapping paper and using that wrapping paper like a runner so all of a sudden you have this beautiful color, it's a pop of color, and then when the dinner party is over you just ball it up and throw it away."

Feel the stress starting to melt away?

"Another thing that you can do is just think about how to present things," she advised. "Another runner you can do are lots of little tea lights in different sizes and things, don't forget about the ornaments that you already have... It doesn't have to be on the table; it could be next to the table. Looking festive but using things that you already have — I think that's the key."
