Duff Goldman Is a Married Man — And His Wedding Featured 5 Outrageous Cakes
Ace of Cakes' Duff Goldman married Johnna Colbry at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.
Ace of Cakes star Duff Goldman is married! The baker famous for whipping up outrageous cakes proposed last April to girlfriend Johnna Colbry, and the couple sealed the deal this weekend in Los Angeles at the Natural History Museum, in an imaginative fete orchestrated by celebrity event guru Mindy Weiss.
Last year, Goldman had already teased that his own wedding would have no ordinary cake — of course not.
And in the end, the baker and co-star of Food Network’s upcoming show Buddy vs. Duff (which, yes, features Goldman facing off with Cake Boss‘s Buddy Valastro) had five cakes at his wedding.
The main one — as he’d teased last year — was indeed hanging from the ceiling. The underwater-themed dessert featured such motifs as bubbles, sea dragons, and sea glass rendered in sugar. Strands made to look like stylized bubbles separated the chocolate and chocolate-peanut butter tiers for an open affect, according to Martha Stewart Weddings, which has the pics.
As well, the couple served a “meat cake” per the groom's wishes, according to Martha Stewart Weddings. That is to say, it wasn’t actually a cake, but a meat dish made to mimic the shape of a cake: Think meatball, lamb schwarma, and Pennsylvania scrapple layers, frosted with mashed potatoes and topped with bacon roses.
Goldman’s team also put together a traditional wedding cake in white for the bride, with six tiers done in the style of her dress.
Mazel to the happy, well-fed couple — who are scheduled to go around the world on two honeymoons. Because two (or five) is better than one!
