Remember Bennifer? (RIP Y2K.) Long-since decoupled pair Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck still occupy the same planet, even if their lives diverged significantly since their 2014 breakup. These days, otherwise booed-up J-Lo is a superhuman-seeming multihyphenate, but still apparently just a mere mortal when it comes to dieting: Recently, she made news for embarking on an ultra-strict diet challenge with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez— 10 days without sugar or cabs — and even she copped to finding it rather hard. She explained she was "really hungry all the time" during the diet, but encouraged other celebs to try it too.
Who's the latest to get on board? Well that would be Affleck, who explained to TODAY's Hoda Kotb that he "got inspired" after seeing it on the broadcast.
"I saw Carson Daly bombed out after a day and a half," he said. "I knew I could make it past the donut tray for longer than a day."
From off camera, Daly made his voice heard, yelling to clarify: It was not a day, actually, thankyouverymuch — but just "one hour."
"It's not easy. I will admit, Carson, that it was a little bit tough," Affleck responded. "It's awful for the first couple of days because I'm definitely somebody who likes bread and dessert... No bread, no sugar, no dairy, and yeah — it's supposed to be no caffeine. I cheated on the caffeine a little bit," he admitted. "I can't." (Feel you, Ben.)
But even without strict adherence to the rules, Affleck said he was glad he did it. "It's one of those things where it's terrible and you get through it, and you're like, 'Oh, I feel pretty good,'" he said.
And anyway, when it was over... "I had three bagels," he said. So all's well that ends well?
As for J-Lo, well... let's just say her challenge resulted in eye-popping abs that made even Andy Cohen have to declare himself "suddenly feeling straight."
