NeNe Leakes Walks the NYFW Runway in $1 Million Dress: Get the Details
Designer Malan Breton shares why she was the perfect woman to rock the super-luxe dress.
Bloop! NeNe Leakes knows how to strut her stuff — so when Malan Breton needed someone to rock a dress worth over a $1 million dollars(!) at his New York Fashion Week show on Thursday, he looked no further than The Real Housewives of Atlanta pal. The stunning gown was inspired by owls the designer saw while on a trip to Taiwan. He later printed that image, and a pattern was born.
"[It was] literally beaded with one of the patterns on it actually," Breton told The Lookbook of the RHOA fashionista, who has previously walked in charity shows during NYFW. "It's a gown with a train and from what I was told it was $125 dollars a square inch to bead that fabric, so it's going to be really incredible. It's like $1.5 million, that dress."
With a price tag like that, Malan knew it would take a special woman to rock it. "She embodies all women," he said. "She really does. I think from my fanbase and other people that I know, she's the one that's constantly motivating women to be confident, to be who they are. And, you know, I love the Housewives franchise; I'm friends with so many of them. [NeNe's] a very strong person and knows who she is. And people admire her so much. For me, as a designer for women, it's very important to me that women know who they are when they wear these pieces."
