No, Dorit Kemsley Did Not Invent “Carcass Out” — Here’s Where She Got It
“It started when I was living in Italy in my early 20s,” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member explained of her very memorable drink order.
On Season 12, Episode 9 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Paul “PK” Kemsley gave Mauricio Umansky instructions on how to make Dorit Kemsley’s go-to drink. “She wants a Belvedere soda, three lemons squeezed, make the drink cloudy, and take the carcass out.” As Mauricio got to work, PK admitted, “I never even heard of ‘carcass’ before she said it.” Well, he's certainly not alone.
After watching Dorit order the drink (which, by the way, she prefers in a “short glass”) time after time, viewers have also wondered why she refers to a squeezed lemon wedge as a “carcass.” Finally, Dorit shared an explanation on a September 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Why does Dorit Kemsley ask for the carcass out on her signature drink?
“Dorit, Maria from Montreal wants to know if you plan to trademark ‘carcass out,’ and where did the phrase come from?” Andy asked on behalf of a viewer at home, noting there “was an article online theorizing that you made up the term.”
“It started when I was living in Italy in my early 20s,” Dorit explained. “I had heard it from someone, and it stuck. I just thought it was so cute, and then I’ve just been saying it ever since.”

Sutton Stracke’s Go-to Cocktail
Dorit isn’t the only diamond holder who has a signature drink they like to order. On Season 13 of RHOBH, viewers learned that Sutton Stracke often pairs grapefruit juice-flavored cocktails. In fact, the SUTTON Concept boutique owner loves the citrus beverage so much that she carries a bottle around in her purse.
“I mean, look, Beyoncé, likes hot sauce in her bag,” she said in an interview on Season 13, Episode 3 of RHOBH, referencing the artist’s “Formation” song lyrics. “I like Ocean Spray grapefruit juice in my bag.”
Sutton concluded her statement by sharing, “Us southern girls, we know what we like.”
