No, Dorit Kemsley Did Not Invent “Carcass Out” — Here’s Where She Got It

On the July 6 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Paul “PK” Kemsley gave Mauricio Umansky instructions on how to make Dorit Kemsley’s go-to drink. “She wants a Belvedere soda, three lemons squeezed, make the drink cloudy, and take the carcass out.” As Mauricio got to work, PK admitted, “I never even heard of ‘carcass’ before she said it.” Well, he's certainly not alone.

After watching Dorit order the drink (which, by the way, she prefers in a “short glass”) time after time, viewers have also wondered why she refers to a squeezed lemon wedge as a “carcass.” Finally, Dorit shared an explanation on the September 21 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“Dorit, Maria from Montreal wants to know if you plan to trademark ‘carcass out,’ and where did the phrase come from?” Andy asked on behalf of a viewer at home, noting there “was an article online theorizing that you made up the term.”

“It started when I was living in Italy in my early 20s,” Dorit explained. “I had heard it from someone, and it stuck. I just thought it was so cute, and then I’ve just been saying it ever since.”

Sutton Stracke has also caught her castmates’ attention with a vodka-related choice. On an August 2021 episode of RHOBH, Sutton opted for a glass of champagne with a shot of vodka, leading Kyle Richards to quip, “You are an animal,” and Garcelle Beauvais to jokingly declare, “She’s a mess!”
