Kyle Richards Explains Why She Let Daughter Portia Umansky Have Super Long Nails
The RHOBH mom would "never normally allow" her youngest daughter to rock long nails, but she recently had a change of heart.
In June 2020, Kyle Richards shared a TikTok video in which her youngest daughter, Portia Umansky, wore long pearlescent white nails. "Yes, I let Portia glue on fake nails because quarantine rules are different than normal rules," Kyle shared in a follow-up Instagram Story just moments later. "This is for my sister [Kathy Hilton] because I know I will hear about this,"
On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' July 14 episode, Kyle opened up to Kathy about the emotional reason behind allowing her then-12-year-old daughter to rock the fake nails amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "Portia's so little and she can't do anything, she can't go anywhere. She's just, like, home," Kyle said through tears. "You know I would never normally allow her to have those long nails, but she has nothing to do. So if she wants to play with makeup at home and put on these things and take them off, I mean, am going to say, no? For what? There's like no rules even anymore."
Although Kyle was initially skeptical of the look, asking Portia, "How can you even type with those nails?" It seems she eventually came around to the style. In May 2021, Kyle showed off her own stiletto nails with geometric neon yellow stripes in an Instagram Story, writing, "Who am I?"
