Kyle Richards on Her Diet at Age 50: “I Have Always Struggled With My Weight”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom reflected on her approach to eating.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills pal Kyle Richards celebrated her 50th birthday on January 11. And as she planned for that milestone while it was on the still horizon, she reflected (as one does) on ways to look and feel her best. For Kyle — a typically disciplined eater — that hardly meant having to completely overhaul a processed, fast-food diet as it might for others with more room for improvement.
(Recently, Kyle walked The Feast through the restrained menu she eats in a typical day. And she even opened up her refrigerator for an intimate tour — hit play on the video above to watch it.)
But she did feel like there were some opportunities to button up her eating ahead of the big day — and after it, too — to capture the feeling of being her best self at 50 and beyond.
"I really wanted to look and feel my best — I was actually terrified about turning 50 because the number sounded so scary," Kyle told The Feast at the joint premiere party for RHOBH and Mexican Dynasties in West Hollywood on February 12. "I’ve always struggled with my weight. I’ve always worked out and dieted my entire life because I have to, because I’m not naturally thin. So I’m like, ‘Well, I’ve got to do something different so that when I turn 50 I’m gonna feel really amazing.’"
So Kyle increased her workouts to one daily except on Sundays, and removed from her diet even more of what she considered naughty indulgences — what few still remained. "I don’t have a lot of bad things in my diet, I eat really well. But I haven’t used Splenda, or like a fake sugar, in — I don’t know how many years. I don’t ever drink a soda anymore, I used to drink a Coca Cola regularly. So I just want to cut out every single thing bad in my life."
She added that she was "doing cleanses" — yes, even during the holidays. And, she said, "I drink celery juice every single day after reading the Medical Medium — and I really notice a big difference in my skin and my body."
