Mama Dee Simmons Won't Even Take Off Her Makeup When She's Having Surgery

D'Andra Simmons' "Mama," Dee Simmons, runs a tight ship. And that's true whether The Real Housewives of Dallas matriarch is running a board meeting, or instructing her doctors on how to do her makeup before surgery. That's right: As Dee recently explained to The Lookbook in the video above, her personal style rules are not meant to be broken — and even her anesthesiologist abides by them. 

"You're not going to see me hanging out, looking like a goofball," the former model said. And that includes when she's about to undergo major medical procedures.

"If I have to have surgery, they know makeup stays exactly where it is, nail polish does not come off, toenail polish does not come off. I have one anesthesiologist that puts me to sleep; she holds my head a certain way. She has in her pocket — I promise! — my compact, my makeup, my lipstick." 

The Dallas businesswoman also explained how her look has evolved over the years. "I wear less makeup than I did last year," she shared. "I used to wear the black eyeshadow D'Andra's made so much fun of it, but I really don't do all of that. My style is my own. I don't copy." And, she's her own makeup artist! 

When it comes to fashion, "I dress according to what it's supposed to be. If it's a black-tie, it's a black-tie [gown.] If it's a cocktail, it's a cocktail [dress.] If it's just, maybe, going to the State Fair of Texas, I'm going to have jeans on. People can't believe I wear jeans, but I do wear jeans."

However, there are some qualifiers to that. With the jeans, "I'm going to have a really snappy little shirt; little jacket; and I'm going to have that makeup, honey!" Watch the video above to hear more about Dee's fashion and beauty rules.
