Brandi Redmond, her husband Bryan Redmond, and their daughters Brooklyn, 9, and Brinkley, 6, welcomed Bruin, 5 months, to their family through adoption — and now, Brandi says, she better understands her own mom and why she adopted Brandi's brother, Peyton.
"Today is one of the best days of our lives. Bruin Charles Redmond will forever be our little boy, little brother and in our hearts. We love you BruBru," Brandi captioned a family pic from court in June.
Now, we get to see Brandi tell her mom Jana about Bruin for the first time (in the clip above), by showing her his room and revealing that she was expecting — in a different sort of way.
"Are you pregnant, are you pregnant??" her mom keeps asking, looking shocked.
But Brandi tells her no, "I’m not pregnant," but that "we’re adopting a baby boy…yeah."
"My mom is one of my best friends and she is always there for me," she says, "And she is so proud of me no matter what and she tells me that constantly."
At the time, Bruin was still in the NICU at the hospital, and was expected to come home any day. "He has reddish hair, blue eyes," Brandi tells her mom, who can't believe she managed to keep the adoption a secret.
"It all happened so fast," Brandi explains, "I fell in love with him and it’s almost like he was meant to be part of this family."
The best part? Bonding with her mom over the adoption.
Brandi tells her mom her fears and worries about her new baby, because she knows what it's like to have an adopted baby in her life already — her brother.
"I do have a little brother adopted as an infant and he has special needs, it's scary no knowing what you’re getting into," she says. "I completely understand Peyton now."
Brandi's fertility struggles were well documented on Season 2 of the show but she and Bryan surprised their fans (and their family) with Bruin this season.
