The Meat of the Issue

Alexia talks about her pork-phobias, and Marysol's engagement.

By Alexia Nepola

Thanks for watching tonight. I hope you enjoyed it!

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Miami on Peacock and the Bravo App.

I hope that nobody was offended by tonight’s episode concerning the pig scene. I understand that you may feel uneasy and uncomfortable, because I did too. Believe me, if I had to go through this process in order to eat meat, I would be a vegetarian. As a matter of fact, I do not really care for meat, and eat very little of it.

For many people it may be something new, something they have never seen or even considered doing before, but for the Cuban culture it is a very old tradition to roast a pig. Roasting a pig involves several steps, which you all got to see. Herman was very happy and proud of me for participating in this ritual with him after ten years of convincing! This custom has been passed on for generations. My husband Herman learned from his dad, and he in turn has passed it on to his children and mine.

Although, I do not care for meat, I understand that many people enjoy eating pork (as well as other meats). As you saw, Marysol is one of them!

Roasting a pig is a celebration in the Cuban culture and we really wanted to share it with our guests. Seeing the kitchen scene with Herman and I reminded me of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo! LOL! By the way, to accompany the pig we had white rice and black beans, yuca, salad, and Cuban crème brulee (natilla). I want to thank my friend and Cuban cookbook author Ana Quincoces who joined us and prepared the delicious side dishes and guava martinis to get us started! It was truly a beautiful night. . .an authentic Cuban night! I must mention all of the girls looked lovely, and I was very happy they all made it.

I was thrilled to hear that Marysol and Philippe were engaged. Marysol is a wonderful girl and friend that deserves to be happy like everyone else. And I am very excited for them both and wish them the best! I am a romantic and believe in love. . .love is the answer. I agree with Marysol: so much better to elope. Besides, you can’t please everyone. People will talk and criticize regardless, so at the end of the night you have to do what you think and feel is best. I can’t wait to see their winter white wedding.

Lea is such a riot! I loved watching how she shops. LOL! I love fashion and shopping. I enjoy trying on everything! I won’t buy a thing unless I try it on, and I online shop almost never. I like the whole shopping experience. . .looking for it, feeling it, and trying it on. I like to go in the morning right after the gym in my work out clothes (comfortable). There’s usually not too many people. I must admit, I’m shopping a lot less now because of lack of time, not because I don’t love it. (Herman’s real happy).

Until next week my friends!!

Thanks again for all of the nice and sweet comments. They brighten up my days!

BESOS (KISSES)
