Bethenny Frankel Tried the Insanely Popular Souffle Pancakes, and Has One Complaint
The Real Housewives of New York City foodie tasted the food at Flipper's, and didn't hold back in her review.
If you know anything about Bethenny Frankel, you know that The Real Housewives of New York City alum tells it like it is, and that applies to food. (Heck, even her daughter is an ace food critic!) So when Bethenny got a taste of New York's buzziest breakfast item of the moment — the Japanese soufflé pancakes at Flipper's in Soho — she gave a very frank review. But first, the Skinnygirl mogul did the unthinkable: She waited in line.
The breakfast spot has been drawing thick crowds since it opened on September 27, but Bethenny was determined to nab her spot during Flipper's first weekend in business. "I'm now waiting in line for something I've been looking forward to for a year," Bethenny said in a September 29 Instagram Story. "I'll show you everything they got going and see if it's worth the wait."
She later added, "It's the first time in my life I've ever waited on line for something ... I don't wait like this. This is a big deal!"
So, was it worth it? Well, it depends on whom you ask. Bethenny's daughter, Bryn, took a bite of the jiggly cakes and proclaimed they were the best pancakes she'd ever had in her life. Bethenny's review was also favorable, but there was one caveat:
"Only because I can never lie to you, I can tell you, the texture, the sweetness, they're amazing," Bethenny told her followers. "They need to be hotter inside. They're not hot enough. They need to be blazing and steamy. It's only the first weekend, so I'm sure they'll get there ... [That's] my only criticism because I don't want to tell you everything's perfect and then you come here and they're not blazing ... I just like my food blazing hot. Or just hot." Good to know!
