Remember back in 2006 when Slade Smiley proposed to Jo with a beautiful canary diamond ring? Well, according to Jo, the ring was... fake.

“It was a placeholder. The center stone was supposed to be changed in the future, but we never got there, obviously,” Jo revealed.

The RHOC alum clarified, "I didn’t try and sell it," and explained that she knew the ring wasn't real from the jump. And while Jo was aware of the ring's secret, she still appreciated the gesture. "It was the thought that counted for me," she added.

Jo and Slade ended their engagement during RHOC Season 2 in 2007. Slade went on to date Jo's friend and RHOC cast member Gretchen Rossi, who he also proposed to with a yellow canary diamond ring in 2013.

Since then, Gretchen has sported a couple different baubles on her ring finger, including a giant halo cushion-cut rock and a 10-carat teardrop diamond ring, which Slade gifted to Gretchen earlier this year as a push present while pregnant with their daughter, Skylar.
