Emily Simpson: My First Impression of Vicki Was Clouded

"It was interesting to watch Vicki’s reasoning for not sharing about the double date change."

Vicki Gunvalson Wants Gina Kirschenheiter to Shut the Flip Up

BravoTV.com: Have you always felt in the middle of your mother-in-law and husband? Is the Bar the only real issue, or does she try to manage other areas of her son's life?

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

Emily Simpson: First off, how cute is my mother-in-law, Pary?!? We lovingly refer to her as “Mama Joon,” a Persian term of endearment for grandmothers. As you can see, she loves her bling, and this was just her workout outfit! You can only imagine how amazing she dresses up for a party!

I would say that there are times I definitely feel in the middle of my mother-in-law and my husband, because she doesn’t necessarily always want to discuss certain issues directly with Shane. While I love that she feels close enough to me to have heart-to-heart talks regarding my husband, I end up being the messenger for some things she would like him to know.

Mama Joon does not just try to manage other areas of her son’s life... she tries to manage every area of all of our lives. Haha! Living in such close proximity to both of her children allows her to be a part of our everyday lives and let us know if she feels any of us can be doing anything differently or better. That being said, family is very important to her. Anything she says comes from such a good, genuine place of care... she wants to see her children and grandchildren living their best lives, successful, happy and healthy.

BravoTV.com: What were your first impressions of Shannon and Vicki?

ES: My first impression of Shannon was that I was happy to find we have a lot in common! We are both moms. We each have twins. She went to law school, as did I. I also loved her stories of Mexico and how much fun she, Vicki, and Tamra had. I guess I should admire someone with such an alcohol tolerance. At the moment, 15 shots of tequila would kill me. Props to them!

I was very happy to meet Vicki at dinner as well. Unfortunately, my first impression of her was clouded with the whole argument between her and Kelly and the fact that she broke girl code.

By the way, when Vicki and Kelly met up for coffee, it was interesting to watch Vicki’s reasoning for not sharing about the double date change. First she reasoned that she wanted to tell her at dinner, but Jolie was present and she did not want to involve Jolie. Kelly then pointed out the number of times the spoke over the phone since, so Vicki next reasoned that she was not comfortable telling her over the phone. Lastly, Vicki stated that Michael and his date had asked that it not be shared with Kelly. Did anyone else catch that?

I must say, I do have a lot of respect for Vicki’s accomplishments as a fellow career woman and working mom. I’m looking forward to getting to know her better.

BravoTV.com: What did you think of Kelly bringing her date to the girls' dinner?

ES: What can I say that I didn’t already say in the bathroom?? Seriously though, as awkward as it may have been to have him join us, it really showed me that Kelly is always up for having a good time! As a newly single woman, I think there’s nothing wrong with her throwing him an invitation to stop by our dinner. I am admiring that she has a lot of confidence and always marches to the beat of her own drum. She doesn’t give a crap about what anyone else thinks!
