Vicki: "It's Going to Be A Good Season"

Vicki reconnects with Tamra and Heather in Hawaii and pokes fun at her surf skills...or lack thereof.

By Vicki Gunvalson

Welcome back to Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Orange County. I hope you have enjoyed the time off from us and have tuned into some of the other cities while we have all been busy working on this season.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

For those of you that have watched me from the beginning, can you believe it's been nine years since we innocently started taping this show from just a little "idea" of what it would be like to film a documentary while living behind the gates of Coto de Caza? To say it has been a wild ride is an understatement.

As I watched this first episode with my high school girlfriend while we vacationed on our annual girls trip in Naples, we both found ourselves laughing out loud at some of the scenes. It was truly refreshing to see some laughter and fun, instead of all the screaming and chaos that we have known to bring to the TV. I, for one, really enjoyed this episode, as it brought some laughter as Heather, Tamra and I experienced our first girls trip to Hawaii together. I was so proud of Heather landing a role job on Hawaii Five-O, and it was fun to catch up with her on the tail end of her "gig."

Flying to Hawaii with just Tamra was really nice. Since she and Eddie got married, I haven't had a lot of one-on-one time with her so I was really excited to be alone. I'm so happy that our friendship is back on track, and it feels so good to be able to laugh together like we usually did.

When Tamra came up with the idea of surfing, I was like, "Sure...I can do this." Holy crap, I had no idea it was that difficult to do. I could not get my balance on that darn board. Every time I thought I had it, I would shift my feet to balance the board out and it would flip me over.  Ugh. . .At least I didn’t give up, and finally after what it seemed like 200 tries – I made it. Bucket list checked off for surfing. Done!

Driving the jeep around the island was a lot of fun. Stopping at the shrimp truck, eating corn on the cob, and having fun with Heather about the name of the tree made me laugh. One of our family jokes is "See you tomorrow" every time we eat corn -- didn’t go over too well with Heather. I don't think she thought it was funny but Tamra and I did.
