Kelly Dodd's Newest Drink Flavor Is All About Fighting Breast Cancer
The RHOC cast member is contributing to the fight against breast cancer year-round.
Kelly Dodd’s newest Positive Beverage flavor has an especially positive purpose: to raise breast cancer awareness and research funding all year long.
In partnership with their new philanthropic initiative, October 365, The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member’s beverage company has launched their latest Prickly Pear Lemonade flavor in hopes of making the fight against breast cancer a daily practice for the general public. “We’re calling it October 365 because usually when people donate to charity, they only do it once a month. Breast cancer awareness is usually in October,” Kelly told BravoTV.com, referencing nationally-recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “However, we are going to give $20,000 to the Breast Cancer Foundation and we’re going to give 5 cents to every can sold to breast cancer research — all year round.”
The cause is deeply personal for Kelly and Positive Beverage co-founder Zach Muchnick. “Zach’s grandmother died of it,” she said of the disease. “Three of my girlfriends in their 30s and 40s got breast cancer. Rick [Leventhal], my fiancé, his sister got breast cancer. We are all susceptible to it.”
“One of my good friends is lucky to be alive, she called the experience humbling and crippling," Kelly added in a statement. “The devastating disease gave her perspective on what’s truly important, and anything we can do through research to help find a cure is truly a matter of life and death.”
Kelly also added a fun claim about Positive Beverage: “They’re phenomenal mixers,” she told BravoTV.com “You don’t get hangovers from it. My girlfriends came over yesterday and got silver tequila and they put it with the mandarin orange [flavor]. It was phenomenal.”
