Booze-centric festivals like Oktoberfest are famous around the world — but the biggest ones can also be crowded and chaotic. In addition to the biggies, consider these littler-known alcohol-centric festivals around the world, where there's a focus for every particular palate.

1. Germany

The king of the worldwide booze festivals, Oktoberfest is in Germany is the world’s largest beer festival. Located in Munich, it goes on for several weeks every fall and millions of people from the around the world are known to attend. Note: If getting to Germany isn't in the cards this year, the second-largest Oktoberfest in the world takes place in Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada. A strong German heritage and two large universities combine to create 10 days of beer-drinking fun.

2. London

A first for London, a Prosecco Festival arrives this spring. A three-day festival scheduled for May, prosecco products from Italy will arrive en masse on London for a weekend of tastings, demos, and lots of Italian fare to go with the bubbles.

3. Italy

The largest annual event in Franciacorta, Festival Franciacorta takes place each September and welcomes visitors from all across the world into its more than 100 wineries. For the entire Festival Franciacorta weekend, the Franciacorta wine cellars all along the Strada del Franciacorta (the Wine Road) open their doors to visitors, with tours and tastings and special events of all types. While each winery offers its own schedule of events, guests can expect to find themed tastings, food-centric experiences centered around local dishes, and products from street food to creations of top local chefs, all complementing the sparkling wine, of course.

4. Arizona

At the Agave Heritage Fest in Tucson, in its ninth year, look for a week celebrating the distillates of the agave plant. That's not just tequila, but also sotol, bacanora, mezcal, and more. Tucson has an international connection as UNESCO’s first American City of Gastronomy, something that is explored through seminars, tastings, dinners, brunches, concerts, and more.

5. Canada

At Vancouver Craft Beer Week in Vancouver, BC, a whole week is dedicated to craft beer right in the hub of up and coming Canadian craft breweries.

6. Florida

7. On tour

The Bacon and Beer Classic takes place at professional sports stadiums across the United States. The event has brought out more than 65,000 attendees to date from all 50 states and 24 countries. At the events to date, 1,350,000 bacon-infused dishes have been served and 4,000 kegs of beer have been consumed.
