Gordon Ramsay is well known for saying what's on his mind. And recently, he had some rather strong words related to his approach to spoiling — or rather, not spoiling — his children.
While the family may indeed travel frequently (such as their recent trip to the Maldives with the Beckham family, no big deal) Gordon and wife Tana do not let their children experience the same luxury as their parents.
"They don’t sit with us in first class," Gordon said to The Telegraph. "They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that. At that age, at that size, you’re telling me they need to sit in first class? No, they do not. We’re really strict on that."
Not only that, but he is not taking any chances on them getting up to any childish, sneaky business. “I turn left with Tana and they turn right and I say to the chief stewardess, ‘Make sure those little f*****s don’t come anywhere near us — I want to sleep on this plane.'"
The kids may work hard and earn their right to first class in the future, but Gordon wants them — and us — to know it hasn't happened yet. "I worked my f***ing arse off to sit that close to the pilot and you appreciate it more when you’ve grafted for it."
While this all might seem outspoken — even off-puttingly so — Gordon was also careful to point out in the interview that knows he hit the jackpot and doesn't take his fortune for granted. He explained he grew up with nothing and learned to work hard, so he wants his kids to learn the same. Other than not getting to sit in first class, he doesn't let them eat in his fancy restaurants either. And he said that once they are older, they will get just 25 percent toward their first homes.
