New Top Chef All-Stars Edition Announced at BravoCon 2019
Season 17 of the culinary competition will take place in Los Angeles.
The Cheftestants will look very familiar when Bravo's Top Chef returns for Season 17 in spring 2020.
The upcoming new season of Top Chef will feature 15 frontrunners and fan favorites from seasons past, it was announced during the Top Chef on Top panel featuring Season 14 winner Brooke Williamson at BravoCon on Saturday, November 16.
Host Padma Lakshmi, head judge Tom Colicchio, and Gail Simmons will all be returning to the judges table as these all-star contestants battle it out for culinary supremacy in the hopes of taking home the coveted title of Top Chef.
Top Chef previously welcomed back all-star contestants in Season 8. Since then, former Cheftestants have often returned to cook in the competition again over the years, such as Season 14 in Charleston, Season 15 in Colorado, and Season 16 in Kentucky.
Dan Cutforth, the executive producer of Top Chef, previously shared his hopes for another all-stars season of the show while speaking during the series' PaleyFest NY event in October 2018.
"Yeah, we would. I think it's getting to that time," Cutforth said when asked about the possibility of another all-stars season during the panel. "I think you could do a great season of winners. I think you could do a great season of people who were just runners-up. There were some incredible people who fell at the final hurdle. We've got some amazing cast who didn't get to be in All Stars, so I think it would be great to do that."
It was also announced during the panel that Top Chef Season 17 will take place in Los Angeles, California, where Season 2 of the competition was also previously located.
In addition to Brooke, BravoCon 2019 is also featuring appearances by two other Top Chef winners throughout the weekend: Joe Flamm (Season 15) and Kelsey Barnard Clark (Season 16).
